What We Breed For
Our goal is balance
Our goal is balance. No one feature earns a dog a place in our program by itself. A beautiful face cannot make up for a temperament we would not want to live with. Tiny size cannot make up for poor structure. An impressive pedigree matters only when the dog in front of us carries forward qualities worth preserving. We want Yorkies that bring beauty, health, structure, intelligence, confidence, affection, and companionship together in one little dog.
Face and Expression
The Adored Yorkies look is refined, soft, and unmistakably sweet. We are drawn to big expressive eyes, small well placed ears, a shorter refined muzzle, a balanced head, and the youthful baby doll expression that makes a Yorkie seem to keep a puppy face well into adulthood. A short nose alone does not create a doll face. It is the balance of the entire head and expression that creates the look we love.
Structure
Beauty has to have a sound foundation. We value balanced bodies, good movement, correct proportions, and dogs that are physically comfortable doing normal dog things. We want our Yorkies to look beautiful standing still, but we also want them to run through the yard, go for walks, play, climb into a lap, and enjoy long active lives as companions.
Size
We love refined smaller Yorkies, but we never want size to become more important than the dog. Adult size is influenced by many factors, including parents, pedigree, genetics, and individual growth. We can make thoughtful estimates as a puppy develops, but no responsible breeder can guarantee an exact adult weight.
Coat and Color
A beautiful silky coat and rich color are part of the Yorkshire Terrier’s charm, but coat is never worth sacrificing health, structure, or temperament. We appreciate beautiful traditional Yorkie coloring and also thoughtfully selected color genetics. Theo and Ebbie are wonderful examples of how interesting color can be part of a carefully planned program without becoming the purpose of the program.
Temperament and Family Life
Temperament is one of the qualities I care about most. A Yorkie can be breathtaking to look at, but the personality is what a family lives with every day for many years. We want affectionate, confident dogs that enjoy their people, recover well from new experiences, and can settle into the rhythm of normal family life.
There is no single perfect Yorkie personality. Some puppies are instant social butterflies. Some are thoughtful observers before they join in. Some are playful little comedians, while others would happily spend most of the day tucked against their favorite person. Some love everyone, and some become true velcro dogs who choose one person as the center of their world. Those differences matter, and we pay close attention to them.
Intelligence and Willingness
Yorkies are naturally clever, but intelligence alone is not the whole story. We especially appreciate dogs that look to their people, learn routines, solve problems, and want to engage. A very smart dog that has no interest in working with a person can feel completely different from a smart dog that wants to understand what you are asking. We value that combination of intelligence, connection, and willingness.
Activity Level and Drive
Yorkies may be tiny, but they are still terriers and their activity levels can vary considerably. One puppy may live for toys, exploring, and a brisk walk. Another may prefer a short burst of play followed by a long afternoon in a lap. Neither is better. What matters is choosing the personality and energy level that fit the household. We watch how our puppies play, explore, interact, settle, and seek attention so that families can make a more informed choice.
Why European lines matter to us
Several of our dogs come from accomplished European pedigrees, and Tati and Enzo were imported from overseas. Seeking dogs beyond the United States gives us access to families of Yorkies that have been developed for generations around traits we especially value, including refined head type, expressive eyes, compact balance, rich pigment, beautiful coat, and strong pedigree depth. When we look at a pedigree, we are not looking for one famous name. We want to see generations of dogs whose qualities make sense together.
An import is not automatically exceptional simply because it came from another country. The individual dog still has to earn our admiration. We study temperament, structure, health information, the dogs behind the pedigree, and what that dog may contribute to the next generation. What excites us about our European lines is not the passport. It is the opportunity to combine beautiful, accomplished pedigrees with the affectionate companion temperament and family life that define Adored Yorkies.

Tell us about your home
At Adored Yorkies, success is not measured on pickup day. It is measured years later, when a family tells us their Yorkie is still the little shadow following them through the house, the dog everyone wants to hold, the tiny personality that somehow became an enormous part of the family. The photograph may be what started the conversation, but that lifelong bond is what we are breeding for.
If you are looking for a Yorkie chosen only by color, size, or the first available puppy, we may not be the right breeder for you. If you are looking for a puppy raised as an individual, from dogs we know and love deeply, with thoughtful attention to health, temperament, structure, pedigree, and family fit, we would be honored to learn more about you. Our hope is not simply that you choose one of our puppies. It is that years from now, you cannot imagine your family without that dog.
